Jaw Pain
Understanding causes, relief options, and prevention
What is Jaw Pain?
Jaw pain refers to discomfort or pain in the jaw joint (temporomandibular joint or TMJ) and/or the muscles responsible for jaw movement. This complex joint allows for the chewing, speaking, and yawning movements we perform daily. Jaw pain can range from a dull ache to sharp, debilitating pain that affects eating, speaking, and daily activities. The condition is often called TMD (temporomandibular disorders) when referring to problems with the joint and surrounding muscles.
