Heat stroke is a LIFE-THREATENING emergency. Call emergency services (998 or 999) immediately if you suspect someone has heat stroke. Cool the person while waiting for help.
What is Heat Stroke?
Heat stroke is the most severe form of heat-related illness, occurring when the body's temperature regulation system fails. The body temperature rises rapidly (above 104°F or 40°C), the sweating mechanism fails, and the body cannot cool down. This is a medical emergency that can cause damage to the brain, heart, kidneys, and other organs, and can be fatal if not treated promptly.

High Body Temperature
Core temperature above 104°F (40°C)
Hot, Red, Dry Skin
Skin feels hot and dry to touch; sweating may have stopped
Rapid Heartbeat
Strong, rapid pulse as body struggles to cool
Confusion
Mental confusion, agitation, irritability
Slurred Speech

Loss of Consciousness
Fainting or becoming unresponsive
