What is Motion Sickness?

Motion sickness occurs when there's a conflict between your senses. Your inner ear (vestibular system) detects motion, but your eyes see something different - for example, reading in a moving car while your inner ear senses the movement.

This sensory mismatch confuses the brain and triggers the nausea and other symptoms associated with motion sickness. It's most common in cars, boats, and airplanes, but can occur with any type of movement.

Sweating

Cold sweat, often before nausea becomes apparent

Feeling unsteady or lightheaded

Increased Salivation

Mouth producing more saliva than usual

General Discomfort
