Sudden Urination
Understanding sudden urge to urinate, causes, and effective treatments
What is Sudden Urination?
Sudden urination, also known as urinary urgency, is a sudden, compelling need to urinate that is difficult to delay. It is a hallmark symptom of overactive bladder (OAB) and can significantly impact quality of life. Urgency occurs when the detrusor muscle in the bladder contracts involuntarily, creating a sensation that urination cannot be postponed. This symptom may be accompanied by frequent urination (urinary frequency), nocturia (waking at night to urinate), and in some cases, urge incontinence (leakage before reaching the toilet).
